Team News
- Manchester United are in terrible shape ahead of Wednesday’s welcome of Arsenal, particularly in defence. Jose Mourinho was forced to play Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay at the back against Southampton at the weekend after being left with just one fully fit centre-back.
- Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling both missed out at the weekend through injury and Mourinho will be desperate to recover at least one of them here, particularly as Phil Jones could now also be sidelined. Marcos Rojo made the bench against Southampton but only returned to training at the end of last week and has not featured for United at all this season. Mourinho may have no choice but to risk him in midweek.
- Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian are also doubts, while Ashley Young serves a one-match ban. One of the aforementioned duo may have to play through the pain or Diogo Dalot could be chucked in at the deep end for his full Premier League debut.
- Mourinho was reportedly left reeling from Paul Pogba’s performance against Southampton and it would not be a shock if the United manager benched the Frenchman against Arsenal.

Team News
- Granit Xhaka is suspended for Arsenal after picking up his fifth booking of the campaign in Sunday’s 4-2 win over north London rivals Tottenham. Matteo Guendouzi will push to deputise.
- Mesut Özil did not feature against Tottenham and his relationship with Unai Emery appears under strain. The German playmaker has only featured in one of Arsenal’s last five matches.
- Alexandre Lacazette and Aaron Ramsey will hope to start at Old Trafford after making big impacts from the bench against Tottenham.
- Shkodran Mustafi came off with an injury against Tottenham and his absence would force Arsenal to revert to a four man defence. Laurent Koscielny is not ready to deputise after suffering a setback in his recovery on Tuesday.

- Manchester United are 16 points off first and eight behind Arsenal in fourth ahead of the midweek Premier League fixtures. Jose Mourinho’s side are already out of the title race and a defeat here would surelt end their hopes of a top-four finish before Christmas.
- Arsenal will be high on confidence after crushing Tottenham 4-2 in Unai Emery’s first north London derby. The Gunners are unbeaten in all competitions since August and Emery has done a fantastic job since replacing Arsene Wenger in the summer.
- Arsenal haven’t won a Premier League match at Old Trafford since September 2006 but have a golden chance to change that here. United are in disarray and Mourinho’s time at the club appears to be coming to an end.
