- Borussia Dortmund will be through with a draw and will clinch first place if they win and Atlético Madrid, who are level with the German club on nine points, lose at home to bottom side Monaco. Club Brugge must win to stay in contention for a top-two finish, and will make sure of third place if they match or better Monaco’s result.
- Dortmund have been one of the surprise packages in Europe this season and are clear favourites to win on Wednesday. Their only defeat in any competition was a 2-0 defeat away to Atletico Madrid last time out in the Champions League. They have scored at least three goals in eight of their nine home matches this season.
- Club Bruges have only won two of their last 10 matches in all competitions and have lost each of their last two heading into this tough match. The Belgian outfit did thump Monaco 4-0 last time out in the competition but are more likely to be on the receiving end of that scoreline here.
