• Luis Enrique’s squad selection caught many off guard, with first call-ups for the likes of Sergi Gomez, Sergio Canales, Jaime Mata and Fabian Ruiz, though the latter has since withdrawn through injury.
• Thiago Alcantara and Isco were among those to miss out, so Dani Ceballos should start in midfield and there could also be a place on the wing for Iker Muniain, who has not represented Spain since making his debut as a teenager in 2012.
• There’s plenty of competition for places at the back, with captain Sergio Ramos the only certain starter in the absence of Real Madrid teammates Dani Carvajal and Nacho.

• Norway have unquestionably improved over the past year, winning eight of their last ten matches, but they have faced modest opposition to say the least in that time and will be really put to the test over the next week.
• The visitors won their Nations League group to guarantee a play-off spot so may well play within themselves ahead of a Scandinavian derby with Sweden next week.
