• Julian Weigl provides a further option at the back or in defensive midfield.
• Mario Götze challenges Paco Alcácer for the spot up front, although he could also start behind the Spaniard, if manager Lucien Favre decides to switch to a 4-1-4-1 again, with Axel Witsel playing as a lone defensive midfielder.

• Bayern lost their spot on top of the table after a disappointing 1-1 draw at Freiburg last weekend. Following a dramatic 5-4 DFB-Pokal win against Heidenheim on Wednesday night, where they had to play with 10 men for most of the game, the Bavarians might suffer from mild fatigue here. A home win in this possible title-decider would put them a point above the visitors, but it remains to be seen if the defending champions can improve their balance again.
• Dortmund beat Wolfsburg 2-0 with two last-minute goals by Paco Alcácer last weekend to reclaim the top spot. They arguably have not won a game convincingly since their 5-1 victory over Hannover in January, however, and must improve their balance again as well. After a 3-2 win over their Bavarian rivals in the reverse fixture, they will be confident heading into this clash in any case.
• Expect this to be an intense game with several good chances at both ends of the pitch. As both back-fours have struggled recently and Bayern have to take the initiative, a similar scoreline to the one seen earlier in the season is possible.
