Cameroon- The defending champions’ preparation was marred by a standoff between the players and the Cameroonian Football Federation due to a disagreement about bonuses.
- But their recent form gives them plenty of confidence. The Indomitable Lions have been in fine goalscoring form of late, netting 17 goals in their last four matches including 11 against Alcorcon with no reply.
- Newly appointed captain Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has a greater role to play in this tournament with Vincent Aboubakar ruled out of the competition.
- He will rely on services from the likes of Christian Bassogog and Clinton N’jie.
- Striker Joel Tagueu has been ruled out of the tournament because of a heart defect.

Guinea-Bissau- Guinea-Bissau don’t look like a side ready for the tournament and they will need a miracle to avoid a group stage exit.
- They suffered their eighth defeat in 13 matches when they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Angola in a final warm-up match. Hardly ideal preparation for Djurtus’ in their second-ever appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana vs Benin

Ghana- Ghana have made the semi-finals in their last six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and may well extend that streak in Egypt.
- However, they must improve their performances. They recorded no wins and scored no goals in two pre-tournament friendly games against Namibia and South Africa.
- Six players, Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, Andre Ayew, Mubarak Wakaso Christian Atsu and John Boye, who featured in semi-final defeat to Cameroon in 2017, are expected to start against Benin.

Benin- Benin’s squad boast a number of European based players like Ghana. There is however no player from a club of the calibre of Atletico Madrid or Inter Milan.
- Their star man Stephane Sessegnon is suspended for the match but they can rely on Brighton’s Steve Mounie, who has scored five goals in his last four caps.
